My Approach to Educational Consulting

Corinne Guidi - Education Consultant and Academic Life Coach

For nearly two decades, I've dedicated my life to teaching students of all ages, from secondary school to college and beyond. Through these experiences, I've come to one undeniable truth: every learner is unique. Each learner has their own rhythm and a distinct way of seeing and moving through the world.

My mission is to help families make choices that honor both the intellect and the spirit of the learner. Each conversation, each decision, is a step toward greater ease and alignment — an unfolding of what feels right, not just what looks right.

When you choose to work with me, you can expect a process rooted in empathy, intuition, and trust — one that brings clarity to complex decisions and ensures each choice supports a child's sense of confidence and well-being.

How I Got Here

I found my calling the first time I stood in front of a college classroom. I was a graduate student at UNC Charlotte, teaching Spanish, and something clicked — I knew I was meant to be in education.

After several years as an adjunct professor, I moved into independent school teaching, and that's where everything changed. In the classroom, I saw how uniquely different every single student learned — and I was lucky to have the space to explore that as a language teacher. I gave students agency over their learning and helped them see their strengths. But I also witnessed the pressure: students more focused on test formats and college admissions than on curiosity or growth. I started asking questions I couldn't shake.

I began to wonder if there was a better way — and that question led me to pursue my doctorate at Northeastern University, where I centered my dissertation on the gap year experience of students in the United States, a path still deeply stigmatized in American culture. The research confirmed what I already felt: one size does not fit all.

In 2016, while still pursuing my doctorate, I began consulting with families on the side — with no intention of making it permanent. But the work grew. I took on a little more, then a little more. By the time I finished my degree, I was so deeply in love with this work that walking away was never really an option.

Nearly a decade later, I've guided hundreds of families through school placement across the U.S. and abroad, and in 2022 I added academic life coaching to my practice — supporting teens and young adults as they navigate the transitions that shape who they're becoming.

Every experience along the way — every classroom, every student, every school I've walked through — informs the work I do today. And I never stop learning. I visit dozens of schools each year, stay immersed in the evolving landscape of education, and bring that living knowledge to every family with whom I work.

What Guides My Work

  • Clarity

School placement and educational transitions involve countless moving parts. My role is to simplify the process — to bring order, perspective, and calm to decisions that can feel overwhelming.

  • Humanity

No matter the profile or the circumstances — every family I work with receives the same care, attention, and respect. I meet people where they meet me, and the human element is always at the center.

  • Integrity

Every journey starts with a conversation.
