FAQs About Academic Life Coaching

Academic Life Coaching is a structured 10-session program grounded in positive psychology and designed specifically for students. It's built around a simple but powerful idea: every student already has what it takes — the work is about helping them access it more fully.

Over the course of the program, students develop self-awareness, clarify their values, build systems that actually hold, and grow into a clearer sense of who they are and where they're headed. Sessions are co-created — the agenda belongs to the student, and so does the work that follows.

The program is certified through Coach Training EDU and accredited by the International Coach Federation. Academic advisors at universities across the country have adopted this framework, recognizing that helping students understand themselves leads to deeper, more lasting outcomes than academic advising alone.

What is academic life coaching?

1

Coaching is a good fit for students who are curious about themselves and ready to do some honest reflection. It works best for students who are looking for more clarity and direction, or simply ready to grow — academically, personally, and as a leader.

The one thing I am firm on: the student has to want it. Coaching is a partnership, and it only works when the student shows up ready to engage. The discovery call is where we figure out together whether the timing and the fit are right.

Who is Academic Coaching a good fit for ?

The program runs over 10 one-hour sessions, spaced weekly or every two weeks depending on what works best for the student — roughly two to five months in total. All sessions are held virtually. Payment structure is discussed at the time of inquiry and adjusted based on program duration.

How will I know if coaching is working?

4

Coaching is a process of growth. What you'll notice over time is a student who is more action-oriented, more self-aware, and more deliberate about the choices they make. That's why the ten sessions matter: the spacing allows time for actions to be tested in real life, reflected on, and built upon. Each session creates an opportunity to go deeper — to understand what has shifted, what has opened up, and what to carry forward.

The coaching space always belongs to the student — they have full agency over the direction of the work. This isn't therapy. It's action-focused, forward-looking, and built around what the student wants to explore and grow.

For students under 18, I keep parents informed along the way. For college students and recent graduates, the relationship is purely between us — though when parents are sponsoring the investment, I'm happy to provide updates with the student's consent.

How much does the program cost?

6

The program is $1,550 total, paid in two installments — one at the start and one at Session 6. Following your inquiry, I'm happy to provide a full breakdown of what that investment covers.

Do you work with students outside the united states?

7

All sessions are held virtually, and I work with students internationally. For international payments, a small credit card processing fee may apply.

Do you provide hourly coaching sessions?

8

The program is offered as a complete 10-session package. Coaching builds on itself over time — each session deepens the work of the one before it — and that continuity is what makes the program effective..
